The Root of All Evil

I’m a little disturbed with much of the social commentary around money of late.Europe, Jeb Bush and Michael Moore are all attacking capitalism, CNBC’s American Greed is in its fourth season and the infamous movie Wall Streethas its sequel debut next month. The subtext in all this is money is bad… even evil.

Let’s remember the full text: For the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10)—not money itself.

People (certain few) are the evil ones. Remember, money is nothing but dirty pieces of paper with dead presidents on them. People are the ones who attach emotions, feelings and perplexing behaviors to it.

I have found that money only makes us more of whom we already were, but couldn’t afford to exercise. If you are caring, generous and compassionate, with money now you can do great works. If you are jerk, more money will only make you a more obnoxious, loud and glitzy jerk. Yet, people will point to the money as his source of evil. Not so. Money only funded a spotlight and megaphone for his true nature to shine.

Let’s put accountability back where it belongs—not the system of capitalism, the pursuit of the “American Dream” or with money itself, but with the people who abuse the system and the illicit and criminal pursuit and use of money.Instead, I’m more inclined to believe: the root of all evil is… CLICK HERE TO READ REST OF POST

boy with a ball1 300x222 What Is One Skill That You Could Teach Someone Else How To Do?When I was little I did not like playing with dolls as other girls did. All of the dolls that I had been given for my Birthday and Christmas served one single purpose – I practiced my hairdresser skills on them. I would braid their hair in exquisite hairstyles and decorated them with colorful ribbons and hair jewelry. The only thing I felt reluctant doing was cutting their hair. I was afraid to mess up and make my dolls look ugly. I had only one option left if I wanted to be a real hairdresser – practice on my little brother. :)

One day I convinced him to play “hair salons” with me. I took my comb and mom’s scissors and enthusiastically got down to business. My little brother actually seemed to enjoy it.

The work quickly proceeded and “outdated” white blond locks fell to the floor one by one to create a stylish haircut. I was just about to finish, when my parents realized that we were acting too quiet and decided to take a look at what we were up to.

There was a minute’s silence in the room and then my dad summed it up in a simple phrase, “What in the world have you done?!”

Neither of my parents seemed to appreciate my brother’s new funky look. My mom immediately got us dressed and we went to a real hair salon. My punishment was that I had to pay for my brother’s second haircut with my ‘ice-cream money’. But the most embarrassing part was to hear all the comments that everyone made, when they saw my brother’s hair: “Poor child!”… “Who did this to you?”… “Don’t worry… It will be ok”…

This sad situation, however, did not put an end to my hair dresser’s talent and 22 years later I still occasionally die or cut my friends’ hair. No one has complained since… And I enjoy it tremendously! :)

What is the one thing that you enjoyed doing when you were little? Is there any particular skill you would like to pass on to your children?

I’d love to know more about your talents and special skills. Do not be shy and share your comment below!

The Inside Secret Behind a Stress-Free Life

stress free life 300x204 The Inside Secret Behind a Stress Free LifeLast night I looked in the mirror after I had finished brushing my teeth and thought that I was really beautiful. Do you have these moments when you catch your reflection in a mirror or shop window and think, “Boy, I look good!”? Well, last night I felt like that!

This morning when saw myself I almost changed my mind… My hair was a curly-frizzy mess, my eyes were sleepy, no matter how much I tried to keep them wide open, my face was grayish white and I had a big red line left by the pillow all across my cheek.

Do you know how they say that we all need our beauty sleep? Well, that was not it. This morning after spending 8 hours in bed I had definitely awakened from some special kind of ugliness sleep. I could have easily passed a casting for any horror movie looking like this. I felt frustration building up. How will I ever make THIS girl staring back at me look somewhat decent!

Before coming to a final conclusion that this was not my day, I remembered an article that I read yesterday. It talked about attachment to a certain idea being the number one reason for work stress.

For example, when we have one of those really bad days at work when everything seems to go wrong and nothing gets done, the reason for our stress could be our attachment to the idea that we must be extremely productive every day. It is an interesting thought. At least it resonates with me. I know that when I have one of those super-productive days I often expect that the next day will be just as great (which is obviously not realistic). We cannot perform at the maximum of our efficiency and creativity every single day.

Remembering this concept, I asked myself, “Why do I feel stressed? Is there any particular idea that I am clinging to?” The answer was obvious I was. I believed that I should look great every day, no exceptions, no bad hair days, no ugliness sleep fazes. This “attachment” was causing me a lot of unnecessary stress. Was it worth worrying about? Absolutely not! It was ridiculous, not to mention vain, to continue holding onto the idea that I must look very good at every time of night and day.

After I realized this, I immediately felt much better.

What is the moral of the story? Whenever you feel stressed, it is a sure sign that you are clinging onto some idea that causes your frustration. The best way to deal with frustration is to release our attachment to this idea.

Let’s take goal-setting, for example. It might seem that the whole point of Goal-Setting is to strongly desire your goals, to visualize them daily and be very attached to them. But this is a misleading perception.

There is a huge difference between desiring something and being attached to it. When you really want to achieve your goal – you feel enthusiastic, happy and full of energy. You are enjoying the process and having fun.

On the other hand, when you become attached to your goal, you find yourself obsessing and worrying about it. It is no longer enjoyable, because you believe that in order to be happy you must first reach whatever you set out to reach.
As difficult as it may be for overachievers to accept, we will never have full control over how the exact outcome of our goals will show up.

It does not mean that you should not take proactive steps to fulfill your dreams. Quite the opposite! Always do your best! Just do not put your happiness, self-confidence and life satisfaction at stake.

Next time you feel anxious or stressed out, ask yourself “What idea am I holding on to?” and “Is it worth the stress?” In most cases it isn’t.

Release your emotional attachment to the outcome and 80% of your fears, doubts, worries will disappear right away!

“Some of us think holding on makes us strong; but sometimes it is letting go.”Herman Hesse

Henry Ford: The Man Who Understood Business

henry ford 235x300 Henry Ford: The Man Who Understood BusinessSome consider him an icon of the self-made man. Some accuse him of being a liar and a traitor. His revolutionary innovative concept, called after him “Fordism”, helped to increase the economic prosperity of the United States in the 1940s to 1960s. He was also responsible for the creation of the Ford Foundation – one of the world’s richest philanthropic organizations.

During his life he was known as a man, who in spite of his wealth continued to care for the common man. But also as a person, who was responsible for publishing nearly a hundred anti-Semitic articles in his newspaper the Dearborn Independent.

There is no single opinion of Henry Ford. One thing however that can be confidently said about him is that he was a great man, who was not afraid to dream BIG and go after his dream…

Poor Student and Poor Farmer

Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 on a farm near Dearborn. When Ford was 12 years old his mother died during childbirth, leaving him and his 5 siblings in the care of their father. Until the age of 15 Ford attended school, even though he strongly disliked it. He never learned to spell or read well and wrote only using the simplest sentences.

His lack of interest in his studies was compensated by his fascination for machinery and mechanical objects. He repaired his first watch at the age of 13 and soon neighbors and friends started to bring him their broken watches to fix.
Since his early childhood Ford knew that farm life was not for him and as soon as he got the chance he headed to Detroit to become an apprentice. In 1882, Henry finished his apprenticeship and was qualified to work as a machinist.

This did not appeal to his father at all. He offered Ford a bargain – forty acres of timberland in exchange for the promise that he gave up machinery. Ford accepted the proposal, and used the land to build a small house, sawmill and a first-class machinist’s workshop (to the great disappointment of his dad).

During this time Ford also met and then married Clara Bryant.

In 1891 he finally found a job at Edison Illuminating Company and moved with his wife back to Detroit. In 1896, at age 32, Henry Ford completed his first successful horseless carriage, which he called the Quadricycle.

“Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.”

Ford proved this quote to be true with his own life. His first two automobile companies failed miserably. The first time his investors withdrew after Ford spent $86,000 without producing a car that could be sold. The second time he failed even though a car was ready.

Desperately trying to attract publicity for his projects, Henry started building and driving his own race cars. However, the average person did not need a race car. They needed something reliable.

Ford refused to give up and by 1903 convinced twelve people to invest a total of $28,000 in another motor company. In the same year the company sold its first Model A car for $850. Ford’s business finally took off. By 1907 the Ford Motor Company profits exceeded $1,100,000.

Rich and famous…

In 1908, Henry Ford designed the Model T car that was supposed to appeal to the masses. It was light, strong, fast and came only in one color – black. The car became so popular that it was selling faster than Ford could produce them. He started to look for ways to speed up the manufacturing process.

It took him almost 4 years, but in 1913 he added the first motorized assembly line in the plant. It cut construction time and lowered the cost of each car, making them affordable to every family.

Henry Ford was now officially not only rich, but also famous. If his manufacturing methods were revolutionary for most people, his work philosophy came as a shock! He paid his workers almost twice as much as other auto companies did. His reasoning was simple – greater pay will make the worker happier and, therefore, faster on the job and they would be more likely to stay with company longer, leading to less down-time training new workers.

For his work policy Ford was called “a traitor to his class” by other industrialists and professionals.

He did not care!

In 1925 Ford was producing 10,000 cars every 24 hours, gaining 60 percent of America’s total car market.

Million Dollar Mistake and Personal Struggles

Ford was an inflexible man and he continued to insist on producing only the Model T, even though public tastes began to shift. When he finally realized his mistake, Ford Motor Company had already lost its dominant position to the General Motors (GM) company. In 1927 the Chevrolet had officially become the best-selling car.

Slowly the friction between Henry Ford and his only child Edsel Ford began to grow. Edsel did not support his father’s method of running the company, and Henry Ford did not trust his son to run it by himself. In 1938 Henry Ford suffered a stroke, but came back to run the company. In 1941 he had another stroke. Only two years later Edsel died from stomach cancer at the age of 49. Ford’s grandson, Henry Ford II, took over the company after the war.

Henry Ford passed away on April 7, 1947.

Quotes from Henry Ford:

1. “Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.”

2. “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.”

3. “Whether you think that you can, or that you can’t, you are usually right.”

4. “If there is any one secret of success, it lies in the ability to get the other person’s point of view and see things from that person’s angle as well as from your own.”

5. “Most people spend more time and energy going around problems than in trying to solve them.”

6. “I cannot discover that anyone knows enough to say definitely what is and what is not possible.”

7. “Life is a series of experiences, each one of which makes us bigger, even though sometimes it is hard to realize this”

8. “One of the greatest discoveries a man makes, one of his greatest surprises, is to find he can do what he was afraid he couldn’t”

9. “Don’t find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain”

HubzeCard – An Elegant Organization Gone Viral?

Welcome to the Hubze Generation

Hubze is an all new Elegant Organization that allows you to assemble all of your social site links be it: Twitter, Facebook, Direct Matches, Linkedin, BetterNetworker, Myspace, Sokule etc. and post to all of them at the push of a button from one single platform. The Hubze MeCard is and will always be a free service for all who sign up. You can Sign Up for your FREE Hubze MeCard by Clicking Here.

Whether we are engaged in Network Marketing, Direct Sales or Affiliate Marketing, we all need a network to communicate and interact with. Today the name of the game is to Brand Yourself. We have all heard it said that when someone decides to join you in your respective business opportunity or service, they are Joining YOU – Not Your Business!

This is why this phenomenon is called Attraction Marketing, most recently brought to light, and sphere headed by Internet Marketer Mike Dillard who is the well known author of: “Magnetic Sponsoring.” You attract other people to yourself, before you can successfully recruit them into your particular organization or sign them up for a service or product that you are offering; they ultimately want to know Who You Are. And if they are drawn to you, and you have something of value to offer them, then they are more likely to join you in your MLM or Business Enterprise. This is how we Attract Success, a concept that was brilliantly developed and purported by the late Jim Rhon, known for his legendary interpersonal business and marketing concepts.

Successful Marketers often employ a marketing strategy called ‘Funnel Marketing’ which is one of the most effective ways to expose people to a product or service that we are promoting. Everyone “Loves to Buy,” but no one “Likes to Be Sold To….”

The Key Components of the Funnel Marketing Formula are:

*TRAFFIC

*LANDING

*CAPTURE

*RAPPORT

*PROPOSAL

The formula goes something like this. Generate Traffic to your Landing Page, where potential prospects can opt in so you can Capture their name and email. This is best accomplished by engaging a visitor who comes to your site by introducing them to your self via written copy, a short video or audio presentation. And always be sure to have a photo or two of you and your family – even if you think you only have a face for Radio. In doing so, you begin to develop a Rapport which is an essential element in a well developed marketing funnel strategy that will result in putting your prospect in front of your Proposal and invite them to take action. …So simple, a Farangi can do it?

There are a variety of well established Online Marketing Funnel Systems presently available to assist us in accomplishing this goal. And in the not-so-distant-future, the Hubze Platform is going to enable the user to integrate several marketing tools like: Auto Responders, Lead Capture pages, Monetized Blog Development, and Training from some of the leading Internet Marketers who have already come on board because they know that “We Are” the Hubze Generation!

And what could be better than to have all of these marketing tools on one single platform. In many respects, the Hubze Platform is being modeled after the Smart Integration of Apple with it’s Flagship Technology manifested in the iphone, with the ability to communicate with your computer many thousands of miles away. The Hubze Platform could very well be the Proto type and Category Creator – Made and developed in the Image and Likeness of Apple Mastermind Technologies and may give rise to Social Site Web 3.0+ It is no wonder that Hubze is giving away a FREE iPad for the person who creates the best video to promote Hubze. Is There Any Book That Has Made A Difference In Your Life?

boost intelligence1 300x197 Is There Any Book That Has Made A Difference In Your Life? There are many books that we enjoy reading. There are many books that we find impossible to put down. There are many great books that we give as gifts to our friends. But there are only a few books that really have a noticeable effect on our lives. Do you know what kind of books am I talking about?

For me one of these books was Stephen R. Covey’s book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. I have heard about and read many self-help books that talked about the importance of taking responsibility for my life and everything that happens s to me.

It made sense, but still “taking responsibility” seemed a little ‘heavy’ to me. It felt like I must heap the burden of responsibility for all of my failures, mistakes, negative thoughts and actions onto my tiny shoulders and carry it around like an old heavy coat that I neither liked, nor needed to keep warm.

Stephen Covey talked about being pro-active and taking charge of my career and personal development rather than passively reacting to whatever situations life throws my way. Basically, this was the same old “take responsibility for your life” concept, but it suddenly made perfect sense! I finally got it! You know when you put a cap on the marker and it looks closed, but if you push a little harder you hear it click. Similar we can know something for years, but one day it just “clicks”!

Is there a book that has had a great impact on your life? What is it?

And more importantly in what way or in which specific area of your life did that book help you?

Share your opinion in the comment section below!

Is There Any Book That Has Made A Difference In Your Life?

How to Become a Pro at Anything

success clapping people1 300x205 How to Become a Pro at AnythingWhether your goal is to write a book, learn HTML, get promoted at work, raise wonderful kids, or help to motivate and inspire others – you should probably aim to become an expert at whatever you are trying to do.

Why?

Because it is much easier to achieve any of these goals if:

1) You know what you are doing
2) You have authority and other people trust you

Besides, becoming an expert holds multiple other benefits:

• You become a trusted resource and people appreciate your advice
• You hold the true power to teach others how to succeed
• You gain respect of your co-workers, boss and other people who admire your skills
• You do a great job and make better decisions
• And consequently, you get greater rewards for your efforts (money, gratitude and appreciation)

If you are interested in becoming an expert at almost any field here is a 5 step process that can help you to do just that:

1. Start at the beginning.

The crucial part of becoming an expert is to know a lot about whatever it is you do. In order to gain this knowledge, you must know WHERE to look for it and WHAT questions to ask. And in order to know what to ask, one should first learn the basics and terminology. This is where a lot of people have difficulties. I recently heard an interview given by an Editor of a huge Publishing house. He said that if someone wants to sell a book about any subject for beginners, they should probably name it something like “Advanced time management techniques” or “How to flirt like a pro”. For some reason we strongly dislike thinking of ourselves as amateurs or beginners. Maybe it is a quick-fix mentality talking. Or maybe we subconsciously hope if we learn the pro stuff, the basics will somehow take care of themselves. Who knows?

But unfortunately the truth is that no one can become a master without starting at the beginner’s level first. It would be foolish to give a five-year-old the “New York Times” and expect him to learn how to read. He needs to learn his “ABC” first. Similar memorizing bits and pieces of information here and there can help you to put on a false front for a while, but will not make you a true expert. Therefore, do not skip the first step. Learn the basics really well before you do anything else.

2. Understand the process.

Understanding what you are learning and why, gives you the motivation and focus to act on your goal. But you cannot do anything until you know HOW to do it (at least at some minimal level). Therefore, before taking massive action, learn as much as you can about the area of your interest.

There are many ways you can do this:

• find out if there are any techniques that you can use
• ask people who are already “experts” for help and advice
• watch someone else do it
• read at least one book a month on the topic
• search the Internet for helpful information
• make a resource bank of everything that you feel is worthy as you learn (document and save all the helpful information that you might use in the future),
• attend seminars or take classes
• decide where to start and make an action plan

3. Practiced talent

Normally if you have a strong desire to learn about a specific subject or activity it is because 1) you like doing it or 2) you are motivated by the benefits that it can bring you (e.g. great salary, promotion, respect). In most cases people who do what they enjoy are good at it, because they already have a natural inclination towards this subject/activity, which automatically increases their chances to succeed. This is an ideal situation. In real life we are often required to learn something that we do not like or are not naturally good at. What to do in this case? Step aside and forget about our goal? Not necessarily…

As it turns out, all it takes to succeed is regular practice. Research shows that 10,000 hours of practice can make anyone a top performer in pretty much any field, from business to sports to music. And guess what? Inborn talent is not required! All that counts is your determination and constant desire to improve.

4. Developing your own style.

Let me ask you a question – what is the difference between a pro and a leading expert? A pro is a person who is highly knowledgeable about the subject and has gained some valuable experience by applying his knowledge multiple times in the past. A leading expert is another thing all together. To become top of the top, just blindly following someone else’s guidelines is not enough. You have to develop your own style; and adjust your knowledge to match your needs, personality type, physical characteristics and your environment.

Let me explain this… Let’s say my goal is to learn how to play the guitar. If I was left handed, playing it the way everyone else does will only slow me down and impede my performance. If I want to be the best of the best, I have to adjust what I have learned about playing the guitar to my personal needs and play it my own way. That is exactly what Jimi Hendrix and Paul McCartney did!

Do not be afraid to experiment! There is no technique or advice that fits everyone 100%. We are all unique. You might be wondering how to take your uniqueness and make it work for you? – Easy!

All you do is:

• Perform a skill
• Monitor performance
• Evaluate success

5. Habitual use of knowledge.

My piano teacher used to tell me, “If you do not practice for a day – you will hear the difference in your performance. If you do not practice for two days – you and I will hear the difference in your performance. If you do not practice for three days – everybody will be able to hear the difference, but you.” Playing the piano is no different to learning any other skill. If you do not use it – you lose it. The easiest way to be great at anything is to do it every day.

This principle is universal. If you want to become a great cook, cook every day! If you want to become a happier person, think happier thoughts and do things that make you happier every day. If you want to become a good parent – spend time with your children and be there for them every day!

– An Integrated Marketing Success Strategy for Affiliate & Network Marketing Programs

by Michael Barrett

As a fellow entrepreneur, I am inclined to believe that New Comers to Network Marketing, Affiliate Marketing or Marketing Online in general do not initially comprehend the need for ‘Personal Development’ or ‘Prosperity Consciousness’ as an obvious prerequisite for success. This may be a result of not being exposed, as a business owner, to marketing and direct sales. As is often the case, many of us have not been exposed to wealth building strategies or an entrepreneurial mindset that is rooted in success or financial achievement. Often times books, CDs, DVDs, etc. are recommended by team leaders who want to facilitate a success strategy to pave the way for a win-win situation and mindset for all to ensure total success. Who among new comers to MLM, have not been encouraged to read: “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki, or who has not been prompted to read at least once or several times, Napoleon Hill’s Classic: “Think and Grow Rich” or “The Science of Getting Rich” and other classics for achieving success in establishing a Mastermind Culture.

These recommendations generally come when a person has joined an MLM which is most admirable and truly a source of inspiration and encouragement when one is just getting started. I know that this was the case when I first got started with Xango four years ago. In fact they had a great monthly mailing of very helpful CD’s on leadership and business development training. I still wonder if companies like “Your Success Institute,” in addition to implementing its present MLM compensation plan, might consider offering Personal Development materials for a flat monthly fee of $15-$25 for members of other MLM companies. This would be a good offset to level the playing field when considering the competition that is now offering similar resources in that price range. It bears repeating that the majority of people in various MLM programs need Personal Development Resources as tools to assist them in achieving personal and professional success.

1. This would eliminate potential conflict of interest for Network Marketing Companies who prefer that people adhere to 1 and not multiple MLMs.

2. It is more affordable when discretionary spending is down and people need at least 60 days to get to know their products and services and also need to make their first initial sales in their respective MLM less they will drop out due to a lack of productivity and possible lack of confidence, enthusiasm or their ability to succeed.

3. A 3rd consideration could include a 1 or 2 tier affiliate program for members of other MLMs who could be reimbursed for referring their team members to the (YSI) Training Center and Library. In this scenario, you could have a separate stand alone affiliate program to cover all your bases – especially seeing how there have been several failed attempts to establish an MLM paradigm for Personal Development Products that can sustain a profit. It also builds on a solid principle of basic affiliate marketing which is often employed by trainers and motivational speakers to fortify their bottom line, not to mention Amazon.com and numerous others who have an extensive affiliate marketing program. Why not create a hybrid and novel approach to integrating these two very lucrative strategies which do not have to be viewed as diametrically opposed or an either or approach to profit sharing – all under one roof. It would be didactic and a teachable moment for the new comer looking to establish their own footing in sales and marketing while at the same time remaining dynamic with an eye towards diversity in the market share for personal development and related strategies to achieve universal success.

As a member of i Learning Global for abut six months, it was my belief that this company was primarily a glorified infomercial for its faculty. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with that model, but “it is what it is” in spite of the valuable resources that (ILG) offers. Often times what you get is a smattering and a taste for what the individual faculty member has to offer in their more extensive and expanded courses and services. They too are entrepreneurs and are in business to offer services to assist individuals, corporations and small businesses while sustaining a profit.

At the reduced price for monthly membership, I Learning Global stands a good chance of attracting tens of thousands of Independent Business Owners from other MLMs. At the end of the day in light of recent comings and goings of MLM based companies offering personal development training resources, it is becoming more evident that Personal Development needs to be made available, at least for the beginner on a budget at a reduced cost, as it is truly a desirable and necessary enhancement to facilitate success for a person who aspires to fire their boss as an employee and establish roots as an independent business owner well on their way to financial freedom and prosperity. This isn’t to suggest that one cannot generate a handsome profit from marketing and promoting personal development, but history does not come down on the side of success for companies who have recently attempted to promote and market personal development exclusively as an MLM.

Reinvent Your Life With Laughter

laughter 300x199 Reinvent Your Life With Laughter“After God created the world, He made man and woman. Then, to keep the whole thing from collapsing, He invented humor”Bill Kelly

When was the last time you laughed so hard that you were in tears? Yesterday? Last week? You cannot remember?

For some reason being a responsible and trust-worthy adult is often associated with “getting serious” and walking around with a solemn, slightly preoccupied look on your face (like you are on the verge of resolving one of humanity’s biggest problems, but too busy to share it with the rest of the world)

If you cannot remember a time when you were not worrying about something, were not frustrated with someone or rushing somewhere, you might want to consider bringing laughter and fun back into your life and here is why:

• Laughter releases stress, decreases blood pressure, and boosts the immune system
• It enhances memory, improves learning skills and creativity
• It improves mood and helps us to look at a situation from a new perspective
• It is a great pain-free alternative to a tiresome workout! The physical effects that a good laugh has on our body are comparable with the effects of a serious work-out. And as unbelievable as it may sound, a few minutes of heart bellying laughter can burn as many calories as one hour of brisk walking!
• It strengthens relationships, lowers emotional guards and increases the feeling of intimacy and trust
• It is a perfect solution for taking the strain off a situation and defusing conflict
• It attracts other people to us and makes them want to be in our company

To put it simply, laughter is a cheap, efficient, organic, sugar and fat-free, environmentally safe solution to your work, health and relationships problems.

If you can use some more fun and humor here is what you can do to incorporate it into your daily life:

1. Smile. Vast neurological research shows that just changing your facial expression can change the direction of your thoughts and influence your mood. Whenever you smile even if it is just a polite smile, your body starts to produce feel-good hormones and your mood improves. Therefore, smile! Even if you do not feel like it, even if it is raining outside, even if you have a difficult day at work ahead of you! Smile and everything will seem better!

2. Count your blessings. Normally our mind is busy thinking about: 1) all the things that we would like to receive, but do not have at the moment or 2) worrying about losing things that we already have. This leaves us no time to enjoy and appreciate all the blessings that we have been given. Set aside 5 minutes a day to think of everything wonderful that you have in your life and add another 2 seconds to say “Thank you!”!

3. Become a cheerleader for others! The secret to attracting more fun and positivity into your life is simple. All you have to do is exude fun and positivity! It does not mean that you have to be hyper-excited or act as a clown. You can always do something that makes other people feel more inspired and more relaxed in your company. Give a reassuring smile to your colleague if they are having a bad day. Wink at your spouse and compliment them on their good looks. Tell a joke during the lunch break to make everyone laugh. Positivity is contagious! So spread it around as much as you can!

4. Live every day to the fullest! Do not wait for vacations or retirement to have a great time. Who said that Tuesday morning should be frustrating and ugly just because you have a 2-hour meeting ahead of you or because Starbucks was closed and you did not get your usual cup of coffee? You attitude is what makes your days either fun and exciting or dull and boring. So make sure that you spend every second of your life becoming greater, feeling better and laughing more freely!

5. Surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Do you know how some people say, “You must have the right connections” ? Well, it is true! Just not for the reasons that you think. People you ‘connect’ with have a huge impact on your perspective of the world and your mood. Therefore, make sure that you spend more time with those, who have a great sense of humor and laugh easily at themselves and others, not with chronic whiners and complainers.

6. Learn to laugh at yourself. I realize that not everything is a laughing matter. But the more you try to impress everyone by your abilities, knowledge and skills, the more people will poke fun at you! Slips, falls, accidents, absent minded moments, out of place comments, jokes that others play on you are all an inevitable part of life. And the easiest way to deal with them is to learn to laugh at yourself! Do not take yourself too seriously! It is truly an intrinsically funny experience to be a human!

7. Brighten up your wardrobe. What we wear greatly affects our mood and our behavior. How you feel wearing a black business suit will differ completely from your emotions when you wear jeans and a colorful t-shirt. If you feel too serious or worried about an upcoming presentation, wear something that puts you at ease and makes you smile, be it boxers with Mickey Mouse or a bracelet that you bought on your vacation.

8. Children and pets – the fastest mood boosters. Children and pets have an amazing ability to bring a smile to our face faster than any professional comedian. Their playfulness and excitement are endearing. Whenever you feel upset about something, play with your pet or do something that makes your kids laugh and soon you will find yourself laughing too.

9. Do something silly. When I say “silly” I mean funny silly, not stupid or annoying silly! The key is to have fun and get in touch with your inner child! Talk in a funny accent. Practice your “evil” laugh. Make a silly four-line song up. Invent your own happy dance and dance it together with your children. Volunteer to sing karaoke. Do not be afraid to look dorky. You are already acting as a serious grown-up 23 hours a day. You can allow yourself to be spontaneous and fun for an hour.

10. Surround yourself with fun! Change your wallpaper to something that brings a smile to your face. Watch a comedy or a funny TV show together with your family. Do something entertaining during the weekends: play bowls, miniature golf, Frisbee or invite friends over to play Taboo or Scrabble.

11. Read funny books and laugh out loud! For fast mood improvement and stress release – check out the books below:

Warning: Just make sure not to read these books late into the night – your outburst of laughter may not be appreciated by sleeping members in your household!

12.  Look for humor everywhere! Humor is like beauty in that it is in the eye of the beholder. To see humor in the world and your life you have to look for it. Even stressful and embarrassing situations usually seem funny after a while. Teach yourself to see things from a different perspective… do not just look and react to them. There is a reason why God has given us sense of humor. He must have thought that some parts of life are pretty funny. All you have to do is learn to see them!

Getting Lucky

The Irish aren’t the only ones who have the lucky charm.

Do you think you are lucky—or unlucky?
Your luck lies in whether you believe you are or not. You have to believe in luck to see it, and to realize it.
When I met Richard Branson, I asked if he felt luck played a part in his success. He answered, “Yes, of course, we are all lucky. If you live in a free society, you are lucky. Luck surrounds us every day; we are constantly having lucky things happen to us, whether you recognize it or not. I have not been any more lucky or unlucky than anyone else. The difference is when luck came my way, I took advantage of it.”

“I have not been any more lucky or unlucky than anyone else. The difference is when luck came my way, I took advantage of it.” —Richard Branson

Ah, there it is… told to you straight by Sir Richard. The old adage we hear too often, “Luck is when opportunity meets preparation,” isn’t enough. I think there are two other critical components to “getting lucky.”

14 Strategies to Overcome Other’s Resistance to Change

iStock 000011512790XSmall 200x300 14 Strategies to Overcome Other’s Resistance to ChangeHave you ever tried to convince your friend to stop smoking and got a “whatever” look in return? Or have you ever tried to make your boss and co-workers understand and accept your suggestion, but they all quickly dismissed it, even though you turned out to be right?
Why do people refuse to change their opinion or behavior even though it is in their best interests to do so? Why do they not listen to sound reason and do not act as we want them to act?
The answer to these questions is simple – resistance to change.
Here are 14 Great Strategies that allow you to overcome people’s prejudices and inner resistance and make them consider your point of view:
1. Speak with authority. Self-confidence is the key to making people listen to your point of view. The more you believe in your idea the more convincing you will be when talking about it, the more people will value your opinion.
2. Make sure that you know what you are talking about. If you tell your friend that they should not eat after 6 p.m. it will not be nearly as convincing as if their dietician told them this. Being viewed as an expert in a certain area is a huge advantage in making people consider your opinion and follow your advice. And to gain a reputation as an expert, you must know what you are talking about. Therefore, make sure that you back up your ideas and suggestions with solid facts and numbers.

3. Give the reason WHY? You might be saying something very intelligent and important, but it is not a good enough reason for most people to listen to you. Why should they listen to you? Why should they follow your advice? What is in it for them? When talking to other people, try to put yourself in their shoes and give them concrete and specific benefits of listening to your suggestions and implementing them.
4. Educate people. People will seldom admit it, but usually the biggest obstacle to change is fear of failure. Even if deep down we might agree that change would be “good”, we might still resist it, because we think it is too complicated to understand or implement. Educate people and show them what needs to be done and how.
5. Show them the consequences of their behavior.  People will only take active steps towards change if they genuinely believe that the risks of standing still are greater than those of moving forward in a new direction. Sometimes the best way to motivate people into action is to show them what they can lose if they keep doing what they have always done.
6. Give them some kind of proof. Even the biggest skeptics can accept new beliefs and ideas if you have clear evidence to prove your point of view. The more facts you can provide to strengthen your argument, the easier it will be for you to convince another person. If other people can back up your opinion, even better!
7. Find  real-life examples. For most people, seeing is believing. Very often you can overcome people’s doubts and resistance to change, by telling them about those who have done what you propose and got great results.
8. Create a sense of urgency. Sometimes we do not do what we know is good for us for the one simple reason – we do not have time for it! It is easy to get lost in every day worries and put our personal goals at the end of the list. Your task is to help another person realize the importance of change and the necessity of taking action as soon as possible.
9. Make sure you do not undermine anyone’s beliefs. As soon as people feel that your idea or proposed change threatens their beliefs and core values, they immediately become defensive and stop listening to you. Keep in mind that people do not resist change as much, as they resist being changed. If you disagree with something a person says or does, criticize the action, not the person them self.
10. Ask good questions. It is a lot easier for us to accept and believe in a certain idea, if we feel that we have discovered it ourselves rather than being told what to believe in. The best strategy to make another person change their point of view is to ask good leading questions. Instead of saying, “This is what you need to do”, ask “What do you think would be the best course of action?”, “Do you think doing the following could work?” Asking the right questions is a skill, but almost anyone can learn it!
11. Be prepared for resistance. Not everyone will appreciate your help and welcome your suggestions. Be prepared that another person might criticize and disagree with you. Do not argue, because it will lead nowhere! Instead listen carefully to what the other person has to say and try to see the situation through their eyes. That way you can find out what the objections are and think of how to handle them.
12. Respect a different opinion. If you expect another person to listen and agree with your opinion, be prepared to do the same. Even if you feel that another person is 100% wrong, it does not give you the right to put them down or mock them. The only goal you can achieve with sarcasm or sneers is greater resistance and hostility.
13. Understand motivation behind behavior. The greatest human motivator is emotion – both positive (love, appreciation, desire to succeed) and negative (anxiety, guilt, fear of failure). People usually change their behavior only 1) when they feel good about changing or 2) bad about not making those changes. If your goal is to convince another person to change, the most effective way to do it is to build your arguments on their primary motivators, not on your personal desires and beliefs.
14. Do not get emotionally attached to your ideas. I realize that your ideas, beliefs and opinions are close to you. But the truth is that you and I, just like everyone else, can be wrong.  Sometimes people are not being stubborn, or close-minded, or foolish, or short-sighted when they resist our suggestions.  They just have genuine and rational reservations or objections. Do not get emotionally attached to your ideas or try to force them onto others. Keep your mind opened for counter-arguments and feedback (even if it is a negative feedback).
“Right, wrong and truth are not absolutes…they’re perspectives.”Holly Smith

It costs around 100 million US dollars (and that is just to orbit the moon, not to land and stay there). It sounds interesting “to become one of the great explorers of the 21st century”, if you have a spare 100 million dollars in your bank account that you can easily part with. But, on the other hand, why go to the moon, when there are so many far more beautiful and mystical places right here on the Planet Earth.

I personally would rather travel all around the world and admire its wonders: the Taj Mahal in India, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, the Pyramids in Egypt, religious monuments in Israel, Machu Picchu in Peru, ancient romantic castles in Scotland, the fairytale like Gaudi park and other architectural monuments in Barcelona, Cape Town in South Africa, The Grand Canyon, the Great Wall in China, and Mount Everest in Nepal! And these are just some of the widely known “wonders” of the world. Sometimes little towns lost in the middle of nowhere or wild spots of nature can take our breath away and have an indelible impression on us faster than any thousand-year- old monumental structure.

Where are some of your favorite places that you have traveled to? What in your opinion are the most dear and beautiful sights in the whole world?

      Enough Already!!

No more whining, bitching, moaning, griping and complaining.

At a social function recently, 90 percent of the chitchat I heard were whimpers about the economy, how bad Obama is doing and how much the health care plan sucks, ad nauseam.

Finally, I had heard enough and I blurted out, “In the ‘80’s when the economy was booming, did you get rich?”

“Uh, well, no” answered the small crowd’s speaker.

“But Reagan was president and still you didn’t? What about when Clinton was President? He created a big national surplus, certainly you got rich then?”

“If you were standing in the healthcare haven of France right now, as you describe, would you be any healthier than you are now?”
      Silence was his answer.

“Look”, I said, “stop worrying about the national economy and focus on your own economy. Don’t worry about who’s running the White House and concern yourself with running your house better. The only health care plan that matters is your health care plan… for you.”

In my observation, it is just as easy to fail in a good economy as it is in a bad one. And it is just as easy to get rich in a bad economy as it is in a good one. Why? Because the economy has nothing to do with it.
I know many good, capable, smart and hardworking people who have been whacked by unexpected consequences of the economic winter we are in. It happens to the best of people even in the best of times.
